A new student loan called VET FEE-HELP is now available at East Gippsland TAFE to support students at Diploma and above with the cost of tuition fees. The loan scheme is similar to the University HECS loan where students start to pay back the student loan once they’re earning over a set amount, which is currently set at $43,150.
Ms Catherine Brigg, East Gippsland TAFE’s Associate Director, Learning and Innovation said “We are pleased to be able to offer VET FEE-HELP for our students. The benefit of the VET FEE-HELP loan is that it assists eligible students to access full-fee paying courses such as Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, reducing the burden of paying their fees upfront. This student loan scheme takes away the barrier of having to pay fees at enrolment for students who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost.”
East Gippsland TAFE has been approved to offer VET FEE-HELP assistance to eligible students enrolled in Diploma and above courses by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
