East Gippsland TAFE Vet agriculture class that is based at Nagle College has just finished its sixth year of competition at the Royal Melbourne Show and the Gippsland Beef Challenge at Sale.
Students from Swift’s Creek Secondary College, Bairnsdale Secondary College, and Nagle College come together each Friday to participate in the Cert II in Agriculture program.
As a main component of their course they are involved in a practical and theoretic competency of feeding livestock. This component involves the feeding of livestock for carcass evaluation at both of these events.

The TAFE Work Safety Centre officially opened its doors in Gippsland, at a formal launch on September 26.
The new Centre is the result of an alliance between GippsTAFE and East Gippsland Institute of TAFE, the two major TAFE Institutes in Gippsland.

Students undertaking the Diploma of Conservation and Land Management through East Gippsland Institute of TAFE, Forestech Campus, recently completed a fauna survey in the Red Bluff/Lake Tyers area. This survey was supported by East Gippsland Coastcare. The results gained will contribute to an ongoing study of an isolated population of vulnerable Long-Nosed Potoroos (Potorous tridactylus).

Gippsland’s first Aviation apprentices Brad Jones and Matt Rowley, graduated in the Certificate 4 in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, from East Gippsland TAFE on Thursday 14 June 2007. Both apprentices work at Rudy’s Aero Engines located at West Sale Airport.
