Apprenticeships Victoria

Gippsland Group Training/Apprenticeships Victoria

EG TAFE is proud of its partnership and MOU with Australia’s largest Group Training Company. On 26 July 2005, East Gippsland TAFE and Gippsland Group Training signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding in an effort to boost vocational education and training and employment opportunities for the young people of Gippsland, and to ensure that industry needs and expectations continue to be met. This partnership between two established and well respected organisations ensures superior training and assessment services for apprentices and trainees across Gippsland.

CIT

Canberra Insitute of TAFE

On 28 April 2006, the Chief Executive Officers of East Gippsland Institute of TAFE and Canberra Institute of Technology signed a memorandum of understanding for a co-operative approach to the delivery of educational projects and services between the two institutes.Through its MOU, the Institute works with CIT to identify and follow up on areas of mutual training expertise and opportunity.

Pivot point

In 2007, EG TAFE signed an agreement with Pivot Point, recognised leaders in the provision of accredited hairdressing and beauty training and assessment.  As an accredited provider of Pivot Point’s comprehensive curriculum and education materials, EG TAFE is now well placed to provide East Gippsland residents with the opportunity to study hairdressing, locally, using Pivot Point’s industry-leading learning materials and approach.

Since 2005, EG TAFE has worked closely to build and consolidate our partnership arrangement with the Queensland Institute for Aviation Engineering (QIAE), to develop and deliver training programs within the general aviation industry in Gippsland.

Under this arrangement, delivery and intellectual property is shared to ensure up-to-date, industry-endorsed aviation engineering qualifications are provided to residents across Gippsland, and beyond.

ACES

In June 2006, EG TAFE successfully partnered with the local Adult Community Education providers (‘Community College, East Gippsland’ in Bairnsdale and ‘ACES’ in Sale), to win the DEST tender, to deliver the Language Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP) throughout East Gippsland from 2006 to 2009.

The LLNP program provides long term unemployed with the opportunity to improve their employability skills via upskilling in literacy and numeracy.

The awarding of this tender to our consortium coincides with a decision by DEST to streamline the LLNP referral process by reducing the number of LLNP providers from seventeen to ten in Victoria. Collaboration in relation to regional service delivery, management and professional development are keystones of our partnership.

EG TAFE has a partnership with The Australian Technical College (ATC) – Gippsland.  The ATC – Gippsland opened in February 2007 and operates as a non-government school catering for Year 11 and 12 students.

Students enter into an Australian School-based Apprenticeship in a trade at the Certificate III level, which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. Students also study academic subjects, leading to a Year 12 certificate.

The College is located in Bairnsdale and Sale – its Sale campus is temporarily located at EG TAFE’s Fulham Campus.

The College offers trade training in building and construction, metal and engineering, automotive, commercial cookery, electrotechnology, civil construction and hairdressing. It will expand operations in 2009 by offering training in food processing. Trade training is combined with the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and part-time employment.
