Thank

TAFE (EG TAFE).
The main objective of EG
TAFE’s selection process is to ensure the
appointment of the most suitable person to the
position.
To this end, your
attention is drawn to the following details.
Eligibility for employment
Individuals who have taken a voluntary departure
or enhanced resignation package from the Government
of Victoria are ineligible to apply within the
restrictions of the terms of their package.
Applying for a position
1. Your application should include 2 full sets of the following (in the order as shown below):
- Completed East Gippsland TAFE Application for
Employment form (cover sheet), signed and dated
by you.*
- A covering letter including the title and reference
number of the position for which you are applying,
including a contact telephone number for you
during business hours. This letter needs to be
signed and dated by you.
- An up-to-date, unbound Resume/CV, including
the name, address, telephone number and current
position of 2 people who have agreed to act as
professional referees. The Institute reserves
the right to contact the referees listed.
- Copies of all relevant qualifications, statement
of results and academic transcripts.
- A statement addressing each key selection
criteria that is listed in the position
description, individually describing
the knowledge, experience and skills that you
possess, including evidence backing up the
statements. Note: The key selection criteria
listed in the position description highlight
the key requirements of the position and applicants
who do not address them may not be
considered.
* Application
for Employment form: An applicant is
required to disclose, on the Application
for Employment form, all pre-existing injuries
and diseases suffered, which he/she is aware
of and could reasonably be expected to foresee
that could be affected by the nature of the
proposed employment.

3. Your application must be received at EG TAFE by 2pm on the closing date stated in the advertisement.
Late applications
You are advised that late applications will not be
accepted, unless there are extenuating circumstances
that have been accepted and approved by the Manager
Human Resources.
Acknowledgement of applications
Please note that EG TAFE does not acknowledge receipt of applications. You will be contacted if you are required to attend an interview, and all applicants will be formally advised of the outcome at the completion of the selection process.
Shortlisting
The shortlisting of applicants is determined by an
Institute-based selection panel.
Applicants will
be shortlisted on the following basis:
- Meeting the mandatory qualifications.
- Meeting ALL key selection criteria.

Appointment requirements
Working with Children and National Police Record
checks: Offers of appointment are subject to the satisfactory outcome
of a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or National Police Record
Check for all new staff who are employed on an ongoing or contractual basis
and for certain casual positions. These will be at the new staff member’s
expense. Currently, a WWCC is $76.10 and a Police Check is $32. These fees
change on 1 July each year. Information
relating to the content of a WWCC and Police Check will remain strictly confidential.
However, depending on the nature of any convictions, the result of the check
may influence the decision to proceed with or confirm the appointment.
Please note that the application form for Consent to Check and Release National
Police Record is only available online from the Victoria Police website. The
form can only be completed online and strict requirements need to be complied
with. If an advertised position requires a Police Check, we suggest that each
applicant considers obtaining it early in the application process to avoid delays
with employment for whoever is appointed to the position. Please note that obtaining
a National Police Certificate in no way guarantees appointment to an advertised

Qualifications: Offers of appointment are also subject to
original qualifications, statements of results or academic transcripts being
sighted and certified, as relevant.
Teaching, training, instructing and/or assessing positions: All
staff conducting teaching, training, instructing and/or assessing must have,
as a minimum, the competencies contained within the Certificate IV in Training
and Assessment, or equivalent.
Medical examination: Successful applicants may be required
to undergo a medical examination.
Probationary period
All new appointees to EG TAFE will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
Working hours
All staff are paid on the basis of 38 hours per week (or pro-rata). The normal working day is 8.30am to 5.06pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Superannuation
All appointees to EG TAFE will have the choice
of deciding into which fund their employer superannuation
contributions are paid. EG TAFE’s default
fund is VicSuper.
Recognition of prior service
Recognition of prior service may be awarded. Applications for such recognition must be lodged within six months of commencement.
Salary packaging
Salary packaging is available to eligible staff (up to 50% of salary) and is available for the purposes of additional employee superannuation contributions, novated leasing of motor vehicles and any other items as per Institute or government policy, or taxation legislation.
Multi-campus Institute
EG TAFE is a multi-campus Institute. Therefore, while this position may be based at one campus, the incumbent may be required to attend, or work at, other campus locations.
Teaching, training, instructing and/or assessing positions
All staff conducting teaching, training, instructing and/or assessing must have, as a minimum, the competencies contained within the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent.
Smoke free environment
EG TAFE has a policy that promotes a smokefree
environment and encourages a healthy lifestyle. As
from 1 January 2009, there will be no smoking permitted
in EG TAFE buildings, vehicles or within designated
boundaries of any EG TAFE campus.
