Get paid while you learn! Apprenticeships and traineeships take between one and
four years to complete.
Please note that applications for all courses that
offer apprenticeships and traineeships are via employers
or the Australian Apprenticeships Centre.

Bus services
Bus services operate weekdays between
Sale City and Sale-Fulham campus, and between Bairnsdale
and Forestech campuses.
Canteens & restaurants
Take-away
food is available on campus at Bairnsdale, Forestech
and Sale-Fulham for the convenience of students and
staff.
The Institute also has three training restaurants (including Café Rossi,
a commercial training restaurant), which are open to students, staff and the
public for some meals during the year.
Car parking
Parking is available on-site at the Sale-Fulham campus
and Forestech. In Bairnsdale, limited all day parking
is available close to the campus.
Change of address
Students must notify Student Services of a change of
address to ensure that results, statements of attainment
and certificates are mailed to the correct address.
Complaints and opportunities for improvement
Students can register complaints for things that have
gone wrong and need to be fixed, and they can register
opportunities for improvement by making suggestions
for things that could be improved. Forms are available
from campus libraries and the website.
Computers
The Institute provides access to computers and printers
in classrooms and libraries at all campuses by prior
arrangement with Institute staff.
Core and elective units
Most courses have core (compulsory) units as well as
elective units. Your teachers will ensure that your
choice of units aligns with your course requirements.
Counselling
Institute Counsellors are available for all students
enrolled at East Gippsland Institute of TAFE.
Deferral

Flexible Learning Centres (FLCs)
Located in Sale and Bairnsdale, FLCs offer courses
flexibly through a combination of home-based study,
centre-based tutor support and traditional classes.

Internet
access
Internet access is available
to students (with a student account) for study related
use only. Students under the age of 18 require permission
to access the internet from a parent or guardian.

The Koori Unit is located at the Bairnsdale campus
and provides support, study and course information
to all Koori students enrolled at the Institute. Telephone:

No smoking policy
East Gippsland Institute of TAFE has a NO SMOKING policy
in all EG TAFE buildings, classrooms, vehicles and
facilities, enclosed external areas, and within four
metres of building entry points.
Occupational
Health and Safety
The Institute recognises its legal and moral obligations, in particular to the
Occupational Health and Safety Act, to provide a safe and healthy work environment
for staff, students, clients, visitors and contractors. Enrolled students should

Reception & Student
Services (RaSS)
RaSS offices are located at Bairnsdale, Sale-Fulham and Forestech campuses, and
the Flexible Learning Centre, Sale.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/Recognition
of Current Competence (RCC)
RPL/RCC applications will be accepted at all times,
but it is advisable to apply four weeks prior to the
commencement of a unit/module. Fees apply. Contact
Student Services staff for further information.
Recognition of qualifications & statements
of attainment
East Gippsland TAFE recognises qualifications and statements
of attainment gained from other providers in Australia.
Exemptions and credit transfers may be available. Please
enquire with your teachers.

Sexual harassment

Sporting facilities
The Sale-Fulham campus has tennis courts, basketball,
volleyball and snooker equipment available for student
use. Forestech has volleyball facilities, and Bairnsdale
has a pool table and equipment.
Student Activity Group (SAG)
This is an official independent student organisation
within the Institute, formed to look after student
interests.
Student behaviour management
This policy and procedure protects the rights of all
students and staff to learn in a safe and educationally
appropriate environment.

Student Support Services
StudyAssist Unit provides
study support and special needs support for enrolled
students.
- Special Needs Support provides
support to students with intellectual, learning,
physical, psychological or medical disabilities.
Co-ordinators are located at Bairnsdale and Sale-Fulham
campuses.
- Study Support offers assistance
to students with assignments, comprehension of work
or study techniques. Staff are located at Bairnsdale
and Sale-Fulham campuses.
- Counsellingis available for all
students enrolled at East Gippsland Institute of
TAFE.

Many of our courses offer pathways into university
programs.

Youth
Pathways Program
A free support
service is provided to unemployed 15-19 year old students
who left school before completing year 12, including
career guidance and planning, resume-writing and job
application assistance, welfare and counselling, referrals
to external agencies, Centrelink assistance, and housing
and transport information.
